Every month ends with a receipt. This one didn't go well — the $200 you moved into the index fund is the only line that will still matter in thirty years.

One month at a time

Take the shift or take the class

You start at eighteen with a family background you didn't choose — a trust fund, or two hundred dollars and rent due in thirty days. Then you spend hours and money, month by month, for about six hundred months.

Work your way up

Seventeen jobs from the fast-food line to physician. Five trades with licensing exams you can genuinely fail. Degrees from associate to medical school — and a decade underwater before the money turns.

Money that behaves like money

Index funds, individual stocks, a 401(k) match, mortgages and refinancing, crypto if you're brave. Credit-card interest compounds against you about ten times faster than the market compounds for you.

Build something

Fifteen kinds of business, from a $3,000 food cart to a brewery or a dental practice. Hire people, underpay them, watch them leave in a recession. Earn a real brand, then promote a manager and work on the business instead of in it.

A life, not a spreadsheet

A partner, kids, friends who drift if you never call. Stress that compounds into burnout. Kids cost a fortune and are the best investment in the game — one in five has a business spark.

51 scenarios

Fixed puzzles with medals. Inherit a dying restaurant with a furious crew and six grand of debt. Reach $250,000 with no loans, no investors, no credit cards. Twenty rental doors. Two kids on one income.

The ending you earn

You don't retire at an age. You retire when the money will outlast you. Then comes the accounting — net worth, children raised, who is still close to you — and a grade from D to S.

Your world, your rules

Switch off layoffs, hurricanes, medical emergencies, scams, breakups, even inflation. Every hardship you remove cuts your score. The top of the board belongs to the hardest hand played straight.

No ads, no purchases

The whole game, start to finish. No account, no tracking, nothing to buy — and not one network request. It has never needed the internet.

Where the life begins

Ten states, ten different games

Wages, home prices and tax all move with the map, and so does the weather that comes for the house. Virginia is the balanced one — a fine first life.

Questions, answered

How this works

How do I play?

Pick a family background and a state, then spend each month's hours and money across twelve places — work, college, the bank, investments, your business, home, the market, the mall, downtown, the park, your assets and your family. Press End month, and the receipt tells you what your choices were worth.

How long is a game?

A month takes well under a minute once you know your way around, and a full life runs from eighteen to retirement. You can put it down mid-month — it saves as you go, and there are ten save slots.

Am I supposed to win the first time?

No. Going broke is a real outcome and it teaches faster than anything else. Achievements, records and the leaderboard carry across lives, so nothing is wasted.

Is this financial advice?

No. It is a work of fiction with made-up numbers, made-up companies and made-up markets, built to be played rather than followed. Every company, stock, cryptocurrency and financial product in it is invented. Talk to a real professional about your real money.

Can I play without the internet?

Yes, always. The whole game is bundled in the app and there is not a single network request anywhere in it. Airplane mode changes nothing.

How is my progress saved?

Everything is stored locally on your device — lives in progress, records, achievements, the leaderboard and your settings. Nothing is uploaded anywhere, and saves survive app updates.

How do I reset my progress?

Delete an individual save from the slots screen, or delete the app to remove all of its local data at once.

Are there ads or in-app purchases?

No. No ads, no in-app purchases, no subscription. Nothing in the game can be bought with real money.

What ages is it for?

There is no gambling, violence, sexual content or profanity in it. It does deal plainly with debt, illness, burnout and loss — the money is fictional, but the pressure is real.

What devices does it run on?

iPhone and iPad running iOS 15 or later. The iPhone plays in portrait; iPad rotates freely.

Your data stays on your device

Last updated: August 2026

The Provider (“the App”) is a locally-stored, device-only application. The App does not collect, transmit, store, sell or share any personal data with any party.

What we store locally

The App uses your device's local storage to save your lives in progress and completed lives; your achievements, statistics and leaderboard; any name you choose to type for your character; and your preferences such as sound and volume. This data stays on your device. It is not transmitted to any server, and the developer has no access to it.

No network access at all

The App makes no network requests of any kind. It contains no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting services, and no third-party frameworks. It does not load anything remotely — not fonts, not images, not content. It works identically with the internet switched off, because it never uses it.

No permissions

The App requests no permissions. It does not access your camera, microphone, photos, contacts, calendar, location, motion sensors, Apple ID, Game Center or iCloud.

No purchases

The App contains no in-app purchases and no real-money transactions. All currency in the game is fictional and earned by playing.

Children

The App does not collect personal data from users of any age, and so complies with COPPA and similar laws by not collecting anything in the first place.

Data deletion

All App data is stored on your device. To remove everything, delete the App — iOS will remove all of its associated data.
